Abang Joe
Salam,

Hope this letter found u in good health. I am no better person to teach or to educate but I want to share my experience so that we can somehow learn a lesson or two about the meaning of life. Just read with an open mind.

What I do for a living has brought me numerous visits to prison. Place where u own nothing. Not even the air that u breath. My last visit was to meet my client who had been remanded for about 8 months awaiting trial at Sg Buloh Prison. Before we parted he asked me a small favour to buy him food. Yeah, why not. After all there is no pizza in here. I have about RM60-00 with me at that time and that should be adequately enough to buy him a decent meal. I informed the warden to make arrangements but to my astonishment the warden asked me whether I have gave it a thought. Sure larr. ( Belanja makan pun nak pikir2 lagi ker. Ingat takder duit ker). “Kalau begitu Encik tunggu kat kafetaria saya bawa tahanan ke sana” said the warden.

There I waited for my client and the warden, wondering what had made the warden question my kind gesture. Then the warden arrived with a piece of paper the size of a normal receipt about 30 cm in length. Just before he gave me he said “Encik betul ke nak bayar kan ni?” Bak sini lar bil tuh banyak lak citer. Upon seeing the paper I realised that it was a menu with a price besides it. There was about 30 types of foods and about 15 types of drinks. From Roti bakar to Nasi Briani. From air kosong to Jus drinks. The client had ordered just about 3 quarter of the menu, totaling RM112.00.

Err...duit pun ado 60 hinggit camno nak baya 112.00? “Encik jangan risau..kita tak buat lagi order tuh”, said (now) abang warden. For me, macam lapar mata la. “Sebenarnya, diorang nih nak feeling rasa dok luar tuh balik Encik. Bukan nak makan sangat pun. Masa pun terhad. Mana boleh habis semua. So, macam mana sekarang ni Encik. Nak bayar semua ke apa?” Err takpe lar bang. Abang buat Mee Goreng Ayam ngan Milo Ais 3 bagi dia. Kalau dia tanya cakap loya tinggal duit kat pintu guard.

Sampai sekarang aku teringat bondo nih. Betapa berharga sebuah kebebasan. Kat luar bebas nak makan apa nak minum apa. Makan bila2 minum pun bila2. Apatah lagi untuk kemana2. Pagi sini petang sana malam situ. Takde yg sekat. Life is very much according to you. Jadi, rebutlah dan isilah Freedom yg ada ni. Hargailah kebebasan yg ada. Oleh itu alang2 dah ada kebebasan marilah ramai2 kita hadiri Raya Meet Together 25hb neh.
